Dawson Design Group creates modern home environments, from interpreting a mid-century modern to reinvigorating a classical colonial, to creating an über-cool contemporary from the ground up. We’re all about clean lines, livable spaces, unexpected details and a minimum of froufrou.
Inside Out or, Better Yet, Outside In
Summer means long days and living outdoors. Luckily, there is no shortage of beautifully designed, low-maintenance outdoor furniture. But don’t relegate these stylish pieces to just your patio. They can be smart additions inside your home as well.
For a modern home’s library, we recently selected the Janus et Cie Matilda chair. The open synthetic weave and faux-leather seat cushions make this lounge nearly indestructible as well as a stylish eye-catcher.
For seating at the kitchen island, we used handsome and sturdy Barlow Tyrie counter stools. Constructed of marine-grade stainless legs and a gently curved, slatted teak seat, these stools complement the finish materials of the island and custom cabinetry and will keep their good looks for years.
For a living area with some modern punch, try Maya Lin’s polyethylene-colored Stones table in any one of a half dozen muted colors. Created for Knoll, these elliptical tables double as seating and can be specified with 100-percent-recycled content.
As you think about making the most of your outdoor spaces this summer, also consider bringing the outside in for a modern, durable and unexpected design solution.
