Go Green for Spring
Spring is the perfect time to go green. By making some simple changes in your life, you can help make a difference in the environment.
Bamboo is a great green choice for window blinds and flooring. It grows very fast and is a sustainable resource. Rather than using electricity, on sunny days open your blinds and let the sun shine into your home during the day. Lighting accounts for nearly 20 percent of the average home’s electric bill. Use fluorescent lights when possible. They use 75-percent less energy and can last about 10 times longer than incandescent lamps.
Spring is the season for grilling and dining outdoors. Use washable plates and cloth napkins instead of paper. Use inexpensive flatware instead of plastic utensils. Worn out T-shirts can become household rags instead of using paper towels.
Install faucet aerators. They can reduce water consumption by up to 50 percent. Replace your old toilet with a low-volume flush toilet. Install a low-flow showerhead. Less water used in the shower means less energy to heat the water AND you are saving water!
By making simple changes in your everyday life, you can help improve the planet we all share.
