De-clutter for the Summer
With summer approaching and the holidays long gone, take this time to refresh your home by minimizing the amount of visual stimulation.
Simplify! Start by removing all your accessories and other items like pillows and blankets.
Assemble them on your dining room table so you can see them all together. Select your favorites and be inspired by their colors.
For the den or family room do you have a lot of books? If they have no order, try shelving them according to color. This is a fun way to make books look simplified and the condensed color arrangement is playful for summer. Add a few accessories to the mix and you are done!
Placing books in your dining room is hip, too! If you want to do a monochromatic/contemporary look, take all the green and yellow books, for example, and any accessories that match and you have a new look with existing items.
You also can spice up the living room with coordinating throw pillows — a great way to change the look of the room. Some stores sell the pillow covers separately so you can rotate them throughout the year.
Don’t stop there. Finish up the kitchen with the same concept. Organize dishes by color, and if you prefer white, purchase a new coordinating fruit bowl or serving dish that works with the other colors throughout the house.
Coordinating all the rooms throughout makes the house feel organized and gives it a fresh look for summer.
