Combat the Clutter
Getting rid of clutter can be life changing and an important first step in knowing how we really want to live in our homes.
When we clear out the clutter, we clear our minds, our spaces and our lives of things we sometimes carry around for years. Often moving or removing a piece of art or furniture can make an enormous difference in how our spaces look and feel.
I have several things that are from my childhood home. One of them was a brass girandole candelabra with crystals. It wasn’t my favorite thing, but there it sat on the dining room buffet — for years! I finally realized that it didn’t have to be there just because it came from my parents and decided to sell it. Now, the dining room feels simpler and more spacious.
Rotating your art and accessories can do the same thing. Have fun! Take a look through the pieces you have stored and make a switch — you’ll be surprised at what a difference it can make.
Experiment with objects you already have, to see how they affect your spaces after you move (or remove) them. Take pleasure in the things you own and get rid of the things that you no longer enjoy.
